Screwing around

Christopher Igleheart was kind enough to kick me down one of his beautifully simple forks for a good price yesterday. While I installed the mat black steel fork I had to ask myself, why? Why am I taking my plush 100mm fox shock off for what is going to undoubtedly be a painfest of an experience? But I'm doing it anyway.
Bike gear it self seems to be cyclic. One season I'm riding a 7 inch dh bike, the next a 5 inch freerider and now I'm back to where I started 10 years ago..on a rigid steel rig. I can only hope by spring I'll be on a dual 4 inch carbon rocket.

My road wheels mount up nicely. Would like to take'r out for a spin but no brakes with out the rotors... Maybe time to look around for a set of 29er wheels.

looks cool but I wonder how wonky the geometry is going to be compared to a cx bike?

So we're back to square one. I say you get rid of those discs and throw on some cantis.

the geometry is mint with 26" wheels. I'm going to borrow some 29er wheels and give her a try. As long as the bb height isn't way up there (that would put seat height too high) should be good. Got no toe overlap with the road wheels, was worried about that.

Hey john, you got a couple chunks of TAR floating around in your camel back. Still got the avid tri-align canti's.

got your text last night - cyclocross training with Jesse Anthony, eh? and i'm sitting here eating pie and drinking beer... i thought you weren't the competitive type? when you keep that sort of company, you're elevated to "bad mother focker" status (not that you already weren't).
